The long journey into the deep abyss of rock-n-roll began very young (lil sister trailing along....) playing on the east end of Long Island with her big brothers in an extended network of family and friends of great musicians and lovers of all things rock-n-roll. Marigrace moved to NYC at 16 yrs young, found a roomie and big sister (Emily XYZ, poet extraordinaire) on the Loisaida, and learned all things underground. NYC, was a dangerous place and she thrived in this element. The danger inspired her survival on these streets and inspired her sounds and words. She found home.
Performance art, poetry readings, and general chaos was her expression at this time, breaking away from the r-n-r band concept - performing in such legendary dives as 8BC, ABC no RIO, Limbo Lounge, Dixons Place, Bucket o’Blood, No se No, etc., etc., etc. The agression of the the streets was her mainstay…living, breathing and expelling life – her sole aim during these years was the desire to absorb the streets, and translate this passion through her songs and music. "whatever happened to my rock-n-roll?" brmc
Then, the first melody was recorded and the assault began; regularly playing all downtown dives, bars and clubs such as CBGBomfug, Continental Divide, Sugar Reef, Lizmar Lounge, Cooler, Sine, Arlenes Grocery, Mercury Lounge etc. etc. etc., in many many bands (Gang Bang Gang, Hard Candy, Pariah, Damaged Mary et al.), and working with such exceptional musicians as Dave Sardy (D. Sardy), Tommy Price, Sylvan Sylvan, David J., and many more, she was able to create and explode with the style she created from the streets.
Marigrace is currently recording 4 new trax and promoting a new, great band independently. Please find her CD, “A-ssault, B-attery, C-rime and D-eath” on her website, DineenDream.com and at various distribution outlets via the internet.
GLORY or DEATH……..as the future is now here.
